Maryland Zoo, March 11, 2012

The big cats were all asleep on this sunny afternoon, but two of the chimps were playing keep away with an old shirt, there was a baby lemur, the bats were very active, the antelope were grazing, and some of the birds were doing lots of bird things.

I had three kids today, Ben, Clara, and Mary, who still loves cute animals. (The other day Mary's grandmother asked her to distract her four-year-old cousin for a while. Mary: How? Grandma: Show him cute animal videos on the internet. Mary: I have been preparing for this moment my whole life!)

We ponder the warthog, who kept looking at us like he was thinking, "What on earth are you staring at? Why am I so interesting to you?"

Bears, it seems, are like men.
